A 3,000-Year-Old Heritage

"Three times a year all your males shall appear before the Lord your God in the place that He will choose: on the Festival of Matzot, on the Festival of Shavuot, and on the Festival of Sukkot." Deuteronomy 16:16

In the days of the Temple, millions of Jews would ascend to the holy city three times a year. The roads filled with caravans, towns along the way opened their gates, and all of Jerusalem became one great celebration of unity — "a city that is bound firmly together... to which the tribes go up."

Today, as the People of Israel have returned to their land and to Jerusalem, we are working to bring this great mitzvah back to life. Through warm hospitality and creating an atmosphere of joy before the Lord, we are gathering family after family, community after community — until the roads to Jerusalem are once again filled with pilgrims every festival.

Frequently Asked Questions

What exactly is a "pilgrimage" nowadays?

Just like in ancient times — arriving in Jerusalem for the three pilgrimage festivals (Passover, Shavuot, and Sukkot) together with the entire people of Israel. Some make the pilgrimage entirely on foot along multi-day trails, while others arrive by car or shuttle for a single day or the entire festival — each family in the way that suits them best. The main thing is to be in Jerusalem for the festival, together.

Who are our activities for?

Everyone. Families with children, young couples, senior citizens, communities and synagogues, groups of friends — from all walks of life and all over the country. Even those who have never made the pilgrimage are welcome to start this year, and we will guide you step by step.

How much does it cost?

Registration for the Olei HaRegalim census is free of charge, as is our guidance and support. Accommodation and transportation costs vary depending on each family's choices, and we help find suitable solutions for every budget — including home hospitality with Jerusalem residents.

I want to make the pilgrimage entirely on foot — are there organized trails?

Yes. Ahead of each festival, walking routes are organized from various regions across the country, complete with rest and lodging stops along the way. When registering for the census, simply indicate your interest in walking, and our team will connect you with a route departing from your area.

We are a community that wants to make the pilgrimage together — where do we start?

Excellent! A communal pilgrimage is the most beautiful way. On the census website, you will find a dedicated track for communities — opening a community group, tracking sign-ups, and centralized coordination. You can also simply contact us and we will guide your community from the very beginning.

How can I help the initiative?

In three main ways: volunteering in welcoming, guiding, and logistics; hosting pilgrim families in Jerusalem homes; and financial support that enables more families to make the pilgrimage. Every bit of help — big or small — brings us closer to our goal.

The Journey to Jerusalem Begins in Your Heart

Your donation enables more families to make the pilgrimage to Jerusalem, connect with one another, and be filled with the holiday spirit.
